Sunday Catchup: September 23, 2018

Time for a quick Sunday catchup! First: If you somehow missed the news, I had two releases earlier this month. The new edition of Skyblade's Gambit is out, and is now available worldwide, on Amazon and elsewhere! (Search for the book title or my name at your favorite e-book retailer!) Take to the skies!

And the fourth Peavley Manor novelette, "The Rebellious Rooster (Or, Macalley Gets Cocky)", is out! Alice's plan to assist a friend backfires in hilarious ways! Get it on Amazon and other sites!

Sunday Catchup: February 18, 2018

Starting this Sunday with a reminder: If you've enjoyed any of the stories I've written, please consider taking a moment to leave a review. They do help convince other readers to buy and read my stories! Amazon, Goodreads, your blog, Facebook, Twitter - any place where people can see them. Spread the word! Thanks! More after the cut.

Sunday Catchup: February 11, 2018

Sunday is here, and I hope you'll forgive me for starting off with a blatant plug. I have set up a page on Ko-Fi, where you can buy creative people a coffee (or, in my case, a cup of tea...or two donuts) by making a small donation. If you want to support what I do between books, this is one way to do so. More after the cut!

modern love gets me to the blog on time

Helloooo Sunday Catchup! This exchange may just have been written for the upcoming Peavley Manor novelette, "The Missing Mallard (Or 'Duck, Macalley! Duck!)":

Macalley raised an eyebrow. “You’re not worried that you might actually have to find a space to display that duck, madame?”

“Not at all, Macalley. I never win these raffles,” I said with a grin as I started the motorcar.

Heh heh heh,

the blog on the phone wouldn't leave me alone

Sunday catchup, and there's some news on the writing front: The final draft of "The Thorn Harbour Road Rally (Or, Macalley Takes The Wheel)", is done! The production part of things will be finished shortly, and I'm aiming for a publication date of May 16. Stay tuned for the official announcement, coming soon to a social media thingie near you! watching him blog away, swinging an old bouquet

Sunday catchup! I'll lead with the big news - work on the second Peavley Manor novelette, "The Thorn Harbour Road Rally (Or, Macalley Takes The Wheel)", is almost done! I'll be trying something different again for distribution, which I'll announce when the story is ready to be published...and if everything goes well, that should be sometime in the next two weeks! Check back here for more this coming week, or keep an eye on my Facebook page or my Twitter feed! More after the cut.

And this is definitely not the last you'll be seeing of Alice and Macalley...work is in progress on their second story! Stay tuned for more!

After the cut...lots! (Warning: There may be spoilers.)

The Sound Abounds: The PDX Broadsides!

Welcome to The Sound Abounds, where I talk about the weird, wonderful world of nerd music! These posts will feature and discuss musical acts that have performed songs that touch on (or squeefully embrace) some aspect of geek culture.

In this installment, after the cut: The PDX Broadsides!

there's a starman, blogging in the sky

Today's Sunday catchup is going to be brief. It's in part because I'm getting a late start to the day (stupid Daylight Savings Time), and in part because...well, there's something in progress and I need and want to get back to it. If it works, you may see it later this week. Wish me luck!

For now, here's a quick reminder: The Kickstarter for the new album by the Doubleclicks, Love Problems, wraps up on Monday. If you haven't backed this, think about doing so; I get the feeling this will wind up being their best album. Thanks, and one way or the other, I'll have real content up by Wednesday.

all the nightmares blogged today

"Sunday" means "catchup", at least around these parts, and I'll start with a reminder: You can follow me on Twitter, where I'm @MonkeyQueenBks . I do a lot of retweeting there, punctuated with the occasional insight, plug or joke. More after the cut!

I thought you blogged alone a long long time ago

It's Sunday, our don't have to run day, and let's kick things off with this reminder: If you're in the mood for a little Valentine's Day sweetness, it's time to read or re-read "That's Amore," a Monkey Queen short story about romantic dinners, half-off dark chocolate and what Shakespeare play not to watch on date night. (Warning: Spoilers!) Click here, then come back for more after the cut!

they tell me there's a lot of fish, blogging in the deep blue sea

First, a plug for a friend: Shei Darksbane, the co-founder of Darksbane Books, is getting ready to launch their first titles, Shei's urban fantasy Awakened, and the space opera Destiny Abounds by her wife Annathesa Nikola Darksbane. You should head to their website now and sign up for their mailing list so you can be the second one to grab their books when they're released (second since I'll be trying to be the first). I'm biased, since Shei is an awesome pal, but I'm also excited for them both. Go! We'll be here when you get back.

And there will be a big announcement soon, so stay tuned! More after the cut.

Come with me, leave yesterday behind, and blog a giant step outside your mind

We're leading off with advance notice on this Sunday catch-up post: Sometime this spring, this blog will be moving. We won't be going away, but we will be finding a new home on the web. We'll let you know when it happens, and we hope you'll follow us wherever we go.

In case you missed it, it was announced that the last Tiffany Aching novel (and the last Discworld novel), The Shepherd's Crown, is coming this September. I'm sad that it's the last one, but I'm glad we're getting one more.

If you've read any Monkey Queen books - in fact, if you've read the first paragraph of the first book - you know that we're fans of Phil and Kaja Foglio's work, including their webcomic Girl Genius. They're launching a Kickstarter to get the latest paperback collection released, and this one is being billed as a good starting point for new readers. Find out more here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/girlgenius/girl-genius-graphic-novel-a-new-journey-begins

Here's a supporter icon!

And finally, this blog needs more penguin videos. Because penguins.
